Ring Crush Tester (RCT Machine) A Ring Crush Tester is a laboratory instrument used in the paper & packaging industry to measure the edgewise compressive strength of paper, paperboard, corrugated board, and similar sheet materials. The test helps to evaluate how well the paper can resist crushing forces when formed into a ring shape an important property for corrugated boxes and cartons. --- Working Principle 1. A strip of paper/board is cut and formed into a cylindrical ring using a joint fixture. 2. The ring-shaped sample is placed vertically between two compression plates. 3. The tester applies a progressive compressive force until the sample collapses (crushes). 4. The maximum force (in Newtons or kgf) is recorded as the Ring Crush Strength (RCT value). --- Main Components Compression Plates / Platens apply force on the ring sample. Load Cell / Force Measuring Unit measures applied force. Fixture / Sample Holder helps prepare and hold the ring sample. Digital or Analog Display shows test result.
