B-4 Viscosity Cup (also called Ford Cup B-4) is a simple instrument used to measure the viscosity (flow time) of paints, varnishes, lacquers, inks, and similar liquid coatings. It is widely used in paint, printing, and coating industries for quick quality checks. --- Working Principle The cup is filled with the liquid sample. The liquid flows through a standardized orifice (hole) at the bottom. The time (in seconds) it takes for the liquid to completely flow out is measured with a stopwatch. This flow time is correlated with viscosity in centistokes (cSt). --- Main Components Cup Body made of brass / stainless steel, precision-machined. Orifice (B-4 standard = 4 mm) fixed size hole at the bottom. Handle / Support Stand for easy handling or mounting. Calibration Chart used to convert efflux time (seconds) into viscosity (cSt).
